JOHN S. DAVIS is President and Chief Executive Officer of EnergySouth,
Inc., in Mobile, Alabama. EnergySouth is the parent company of Mobile
Gas Service Corporation, a natural gas utility serving the coastal
counties of Alabama, and Bay Gas Storage Company, operator of high-
deliverability salt cavern natural gas storage facilities in South
Alabama. He has 30 years of experience in the energy industry, including
having served as President of United Energy Resources, Inc., and
President of United Gas Pipe Line Company. Mr. Davis earned his BS in
Accounting in 1964 and his MBA in Accounting in 1965 from Louisiana Tech
University, Ruston, Louisiana. He is also a graduate of the Stanford
University Executive Program. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a
member of the American Institute of CPAs. He is a member of the Board of
Directors of the American Gas Association and of the Southern Gas
Association. Mr. Davis is a past Chair of the Board of Directors of the
Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Boards of
Directors of Infirmary Health System, Inc.; South Area, AmSouth Bank of
Alabama; Mobile Area Education Foundation; Junior Achievement; and a
Trustee of the University of Mobile. He also serves as a member of the
Industrial Development Board of Mobile and the Board of Directors of
Leadership Alabama. Mr. Davis served five years as an officer in the
U.S. Air Force, including a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1969-1970. Profile
