JEFFREY FRIEDMAN – ASSOCIATED ESTATES REALTY CORPORATION (AEC)

JEFFREY I. FRIEDMAN is Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Associated Estates Realty Corporation. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio State University in 1974. He has been involved in the real estate business since 1969. In 1971, he became involved in the multifamily housing business, learning the business from the ground up. Mr. Friedman joined the Associated Estates organization in 1974. In 1976, he was named Vice President and a Director of Associated Estates Corporation and AEC Management Company. In 1979, he was named Chief Executive Officer and President. Mr. Friedman continues to hold the positions of Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer. In July 1993, Associated Estates Realty Corporation was formed as a real estate investment trust (REIT). Mr. Friedman was elected Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. The company went public in November 1993, following more than 25 years in business as a builder, manager and owner of apartment communities in Cleveland, Ohio. In June 1998, AEC acquired privately owned MIG Realty Advisors, Inc. Today, the company and its affiliates specialize in the development, acquisition, ownership and management of multifamily properties. Mr. Friedman is active in several national and local civic and charitable organizations, including the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. an overview of your properties?

Mr. Friedman: Associated Estates started in Cleveland, Ohio, about 40

years ago. We
