James Palermo – Mellon Financial Corporation (mel)

JAMES P. PALERMO is Executive Vice President of Mellon Financial Corporation. Mr. Palermo is responsible for the institutional trust and custody business worldwide, sales and marketing, service delivery, client service, and investment information services. He is President of The Boston Company and Boston Safe Deposit and Trust Company. Prior to his current role, he managed the Boston sales and client service office of Mellon Capital Management Corporation. He was a Senior Vice President and a member of its Senior Management Committee. Mr. Palermo joined The Boston Company in 1986. In January 1990, he became the manager of the Client Service Division. In 1993, he assumed responsibility for the Mellon Trust Client Service organization serving their institutional corporate, public, Taft-Hartley and mutual fund relationships. The Boston Company was acquired by Mellon Financial Corporation in 1993. Mr. Palermo is a member of Mellon's Senior Management Committee. He serves on the Board of Directors of CIBC Mellon Trust Company in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Russell/Mellon Analytical Services in Tacoma, Washington. He is an Executive Committee member of ABN AMRO/Mellon Global Securities Services in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He also serves as Chairman of the Boston Committee for Public Responsibility at Mellon and is a member of the general board of the YMCA of Greater Boston. Prior to joining Mellon, Mr. Palermo was a financial analyst at General Motors and a national sales manager and manager of client service at DanCorp, Inc. Mr. Palermo received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a Master of Business Administration degree from Babson College. Profile
