NORMAN W. GAYLE, III, is the President and Chief Executive Officer of
Vesta Insurance Group, Inc., and its subsidiaries. Mr. Gayle was
appointed Chief Executive Officer in 1998, and has been serving Vesta as
Chief Operating Officer since 1996. During more than 25 years of
industry experience, Mr. Gayle has held executive positions with both
insurance and reinsurance companies. Prior to his employment with Vesta,
Mr. Gayle served as Senior Vice President overseeing the Southern region
at reinsurance intermediary Carvill America. He received his Bachelor's
degree in Business Administration from Georgia State University and has
been licensed as a property and casualty insurance agent since 1975. Profile
JAMES E. TAIT is Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of Vesta Insurance
Group and has been with Vesta since 1998. Before he joined Vesta, Mr.
Tait was President of Tait Advisory Services, providing professional
advisory services to the insurance industry. He gained extensive
insurance and accounting expertise from his tenure at Coopers & Lybrand,
where he worked as a Partner from 1971-1996, overseeing the US.
Midstates and Central Regions, and managing the Insurance Industry Team.
As a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
Insurance Companies Committee, Mr. Tait wrote position statements on a
wide variety of insurance-related topics, including The Auditor's
Consideration of Regulatory Risk-Based Capital for Life Insurance
Enterprises and Inquires of State Insurance Regulators. Mr. Tait is a
longstanding member of The Alabama Bar Association, The American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Alabama and Illinois
Societies of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Tait maintains licenses
as a certified public accountant in Alabama, Illinois and Texas. He
received a JD from the Birmingham School of Law and a BS in accounting
