Interview with the President and CEO: Hecla Mining Company (NYSE:HL)
Phillips S. Baker Jr. is President and CEO of Hecla Mining Company and has been with the Hecla since 2001. During Mr. Baker’s tenure, the 125-year-old company has been transformed into one with long-lived mines, large land positions and a focus primarily in the Americas. Today, Hecla has become the largest primary silver producer in the U.S., has the highest reserves and production in its history from four mines in strong mining jurisdictions, and has seen its share price increase 600%, more than any other precious metals company in North America. Looking forward, consistent with Hecla’s strategy, Mr. Baker is leading the effort to usher in a new era in mining that adopts the technologies of the digital age to improve safety, productivity and environmental responsibility. With 30 years in the industry, he has experienced the booms and busts of the commodity cycles and knows what creates long-term value for shareholders. Profile
