Interview with the CEO: Real Goods Solar, Inc. (RSOL)

Mofid, Kam
Kam Mofid is the CEO of Real Goods Solar, Inc., and its commercial and utility division, RGS Energy. He has more than 22 years of experience and accomplishments in engineering, operations, and general management for the automotive, aerospace and cleantech sectors both in public and private firms. Mr. Mofid began his career at General Motors in the late 1980s as an Electrical Engineer. After nearly 10 years at GM, Mr. Mofid joined United Technologies’ Pratt & Whitney (P&W) division, a leading global producer of commercial and military jet engines. Mr. Mofid held a number of critical positions, including Director of Global Materials and Logistics. After working at P&W for six years, he joined Teleflex, Inc., a manufacturer of highly engineered medical, transportation and industrial products. He held executive positions in supply chain management and operations, including VP of Global Operations, responsible for 15 business entities in seven countries. In early 2010, Mr. Mofid entered the solar energy sector when he became President of Mainstream Energy, the parent company of two major solar energy companies in the United States, AEE Solar and REC Solar. Mr. Mofid holds a B.Sc. in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; a M.Sc. in manufacturing management from Kettering University in Flint, Michigan; and a M.Sc. from Georgia Institute of Technology’s School of Industrial and Systems Engineering in Atlanta, Georgia.
