Integrating Catholic Principles Into The Investment Process – Brother Michael W. O’hern & Daniel P. Nielsen – Christian Brother

Daniel P. Nielsen is the Director of SRI at Christian Brothers Investment Services. Mr. Nielsen joined CBIS as Director of Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) in 2008. Dan is responsible for the direction and management of all elements of the socially responsible investing program. Mr. Nielsen has a broad range of experience in the socially responsible investing field, most recently serving as the Manager of Socially Responsible Investing at the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits of the United Methodist Church. Prior to joining the General Board, Nielsen was the Executive Director of the Global Philanthropy Partnership, a non-profit organization whose principle goal was the promotion and expansion of philanthropy targeting international development issues. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Center for Economic Progress and on the steering committees of the International Working Group and the Sustainable Investment Research Analyst Network (SIRAN), both working groups of the Social Investment Forum. Mr. Nielsen holds a BA from the University of Maryland and an MBA from the University of Chicago. Brother Michael W. O'Hern, FSC is the President and Chief Executive Officer at Christian Brothers Investment Services. Since joining CBIS in 1987 as Executive Vice President, Brother Michael O'Hern has significantly contributed to its growth and success. As President and CEO, he is responsible for the mission of CBIS, its services and organizational development. Throughout his years at CBIS, Brother Michael's leadership skills, his strategic insights and vision have enhanced CBIS' effectiveness and greatly contributed to our success as a unique provider of superior, socially responsible investment programs to the Catholic institutional market. His experience as a school system administrator in the Archdiocese of Chicago provided him with an understanding of the investment needs and unique challenges facing Catholic religious organizations. Brother Michael graduated from Lewis University with a BA in 1969. He also holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, an M.A. in Administration from Northwestern University and an M.A. in History from Michigan State University.
