Fulton Financial Corporation – R. Scott Smith Jr

R. Scott Smith Jr. is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fulton Financial Corporation, the largest commercial bank holding company headquartered in the Third Federal Reserve District, with $16.9 billion in assets and eight banking institutions in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. Mr. Smith joined Fulton Bank, the corporation's flagship bank, as Director of Personnel in 1978. He went on to assume a variety of positions at the bank before being promoted to Chairman, President and CEO in 1998. Around this time, Mr. Smith also assumed additional responsibilities as Executive Vice President of Fulton Financial Corporation. In 2001he was named President and Chief Operating Officer and a Director of Fulton Financial Corporation. In January 2006, he became Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President. Mr. Smith is a board member of Fulton Financial Corporation, the American Bankers Association, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, and the Economic Development Company of Lancaster County. He is also a member of the Federal Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve, the Pennsylvania Bankers Association and the Lancaster Alliance, of which he is a director. Mr. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from The Pennsylvania State University. He received a Master of Business Administration degree from Widener University. Mr. Smith is also a graduate of the American Bankers Association's National Personnel School, the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at The State University at Rutgers, the School of Bank Management at Columbia University and The Pennsylvania State University's Executive Management Program.
