CHARLES D. WALTERS was named President of World Acceptance Corporation
in 1986 and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 1991. He joined
World Acceptance in 1976 as Vice President of Texas and Oklahoma
operations. In 1984 he moved to corporate headquarters in Greenville,
South Carolina, and was promoted to Executive Vice President and
Secretary. He began his career in 1959 as an Assistant Manager of
Consolidated Credit Corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina, and
subsequently worked with four consumer finance companies. Prior to
joining World Acceptance, he was co-Founder and President of Pioneer
Management Corporation, a Texas consumer finance company, from
1972-1076. He is a past President of the Texas Finance Institute; a past
President of the Georgia Industrial Loan Association; Director of
Independent Consumer Finance Association of South Carolina and has
served in various capacities on its Governmental Affairs Committee as a
legislative liaison; and the Tennessee Independent Finance Association.
He is a past Chairman of the American Financial Services Association,
serves on its Executive, Governmental Affairs, and Budget and Audit
Committees, and is Chairman of AFSA's Professional Development
Committee. He also serves on the Consumer Credit Advisory Council for
the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs. Profile
