Sherwood T. Small

Sherwood (WOODY) T. Small is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive
Officer of Boston Private Value Investors, Inc. His primary
responsibility is research, portfolio strategy and portfolio management.
Prior to joining the Boston Private family, he was President, Chief
Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Taylor Investments
(1992-2001), which was acquired by Boston Private Financial Holdings on
February 28, 2001. His experience includes 10 years as a Managing
Director in mergers and acquisitions at Bear Stearns, Lazard Freres and
Salomon Brothers. Prior to his work in M&A, he worked as a Security
Analyst for six years at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Lehman
Brothers. He received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Clark
University in 1966 and has an MBA from Cornell University. He is a
former Trustee of Clark University and the Montshire Museum, and a
member of the Corporation of the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School
and a Director of the Isle au Haut Boat Services Company. He is also a
member of the New York Society of Security Analysts, the Boston Security
Analysts Society and the Association for Investment Management and
Research.
