Mark P. Bulriss

MARK P. BULRISS is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief
Executive Officer and President of Great Lakes Chemical Corporation, a
$1.4 billion dollar global specialty chemical company with leadership
positions in markets such as water treatment, household cleaners, flame
retardants, polymer stabilizers, fire suppressants, and performance
chemicals. He joined Great Lakes in April 1988 as President and Chief
Executive Officer and was also named Chairman of the Board in May 2000.
Mr. Bulriss came to Great Lakes from AlliedSignal Corporation where he
served as President of the Polymers Division from 1996 to 1998. The
Polymers Division is one of the largest stand-alone businesses within
AlliedSignal Corporation, producing $2.1 billion in annual sales and
consisting of 8,000 employees. He joined AlliedSignal Corporation in
1993 as President of The Laminates Business Unit, moving in 1995 to
become President of the Electronic Materials Division. Prior to joining
AlliedSignal he spent 16 years at GE Plastics. He joined GE in 1977 as a
Manager in its silicone business, held increasingly senior positions in
GE America’s domestic Crystalline Polymers operation over the next year,
and then assumed responsibility for that business worldwide. Mr. Burliss
was General Manager of the $1 billion Cycolac’ business when he left GE
in 1993. He began his career in 1973 at Procter and Gamble as a Process
Engineer. He received a BS in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson
University in 1973.
