Larry A. Mizel

LARRY A. MIZEL graduated the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor
Degree in Business Administration in 1964, and in 1967, the University
of Denver College of Law with a Juris Doctorate Degree. In 1972, Mr.
Mizel founded M.D.C. Holdings, Inc. (MDC), a publicly-held, New York
Stock Exchange, national housing and mortgage banking company, for which
he serves as its Chairman of the Board of Directors, Chief Executive
Officer and President. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of
Asset Investors Corporation (AIC), a New York Stock Exchange Mortgage
CMO Real Estate Investment Trust, and of Commercial Assets Inc. (CAX), a
Real Estate Investment Trust trading on the American Stock Exchange,
until the sale of the REIT management company in 1996. In addition, he
was Chairman of the Board of Directors of OMNIBANCORP, a multibank
holding company, until its sale to KeyCorp in 1995. Since his initial
1966 investment in multi-family real estate, Mr. Mizel has participated,
individually, through partnership and joint ventures, and as the founder
of MDC, AIC, CAI and OMNIBANCORP, in all aspects of commercial real
estate from the acquisition of developed and underdeveloped land, land
and building development through financing, sales and management. In
addition, he has assisted in building underwriting and credit
departments and loan production teams which have underwritten,
originated, administered and managed billions of dollars of commercial
real estate loans and assets. In May of 1996, Mr. Mizel was bestowed the
honorary title of ‘Dean’ of the School of Real Estate and Construction
Management for the University of Denver recognizing his many years of
experience and contributions in the real estate and construction
industries. He has served as Chairman and Honorary Chairman of numerous
social and political fundraising events throughout the past.
