Jon E. Bortz

JON E. BORTZ has been President, Chief Executive Officer and a Trustee
of LaSalle Hotel Properties, a leading multi-tenant, multi-operator real
estate investment trust, since its formation in early 1998. He became
Chairman of the Board in January 2001. Prior to separating from Jones
Lang LaSalle in January 2001, Mr. Bortz was Chairman of the Board and
CEO of LaSalle Hotel Advisors, Inc., since its incorporation. Mr. Bortz
founded LaSalle’s Hotel Group in 1993, and as President, has overseen
all of LaSalle’s hotel investment and development activities. From
January 1995, as Managing Director of LaSalle’s Investment Advisory
division, Mr. Bortz has also been responsible for certain East Coast
development projects, including the redevelopment of the historic Grand
Central train terminal in New York City. From January 1990 to January
1995, he served as Senior Vice President of LaSalle’s investment
division, with responsibility for East Coast development projects and
workouts. Mr. Bortz originally joined LaSalle Partners LaSalle
Incorporated) in 1981. Mr. Bortz holds a BS in Economics from The
Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Bortz is also co-
author of The Dow Jones-Irwin Guide to Real Estate Investing, revised
second edition, 1982.
