John C. S. Lau

JOHN C. S. LAU was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Husky Oil
(now Husky Energy Inc.) in 1993. He holds a Bachelor of Economics
degree and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of
Queensland, Australia. Mr. Lau is a Fellow Member of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, the Australian
Society of Accountants, the Hong Kong Society of Accountants, the
Taxation Institute of Hong Kong and the Institute of Chartered
Secretaries of Administrators of the United Kingdom. As President
and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lau is a member of Husky’s Board
of Directors and is responsible for Husky’s corporate direction,
strategic planning and corporate policies. Prior to joining
Husky, Mr. Lau served in a number of senior executive roles
within the Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited and Hutchison Whampoa
Limited group of companies. Mr. Lau was recently recognized for
his long-term commitment to the Frog Lake people and named
Honorary Chief of the Frog Lake First Nation and given the Cree
name Chief Earth Child. Mr. Lau served on the Board of Governors
of the University of Calgary for six years. He is also a Past
Chair of the University’s Audit Committee and has sat as a
Director of the Killiam Scholarship Fund. Mr. Lau is a Board
member of the Alberta Economic Development Authority and has been
on the Board of Governors of the Canadian Association of
Petroleum Producers (CAPP) as well as its East Coast Committee
and Executive Committee. Mr. Lau was appointed to and served on
the Executive Committee of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and
was Chairman of the Finance Committee. In addition, Mr. Lau has
been highly involved in community and charitable events,
including Honorary Patron of The Canadian Cancer Society,
Honorary Patron of The Banff Centre, and Honorary Patron of the
Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary.
