James S. Mahan

JAMES (CHIP) S. MAHAN, III is the Co-Founder and CEO of Security First
Technologies and Security First Network Bank, the world’s first Internet
Bank. S1 is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SFNB, and develops integrated,
brandable Internet applications that enable financial institutions to
offer products, services and transactions over the Internet in a secure
environment. Prior to forming SFNB and S1, Mahan served as chairman and
CEO of Cardinal Bancshares, Inc. A distinguished career in the banking
industry led Mahan to become one of the original founders of Cardinal
Bancshares in 1987. Prior to his tenure at Cardinal, Mahan rose to the
position of vice president at Wachovia Bank & Trust Co., at that time,
one of the youngest vice presidents in Wachovia history. Mahan then
became president, CEO and vice chairman of Citizens Union National Bank
& Trust Co. He was named chairman and CEO in 1984. At that time, he
formed an investor group that purchased the bank in 1985. He and his
partners sold Citizens Union to Bank One Corp., in 1986. He served as
president, chairman and CEO of its Lexington, KY operations until 1987,
when Mahan and other investors founded Cardinal Bancshares. James (Chip)
