Capers W. McDonald

CAPERS W. MCDONALD is President and Chief Executive Officer of
BioReliance Corporation, headquartered in Rockville, Maryland. He is
also President of the company’s US manufacturing subsidiary, which he
co-founded in 1993. Mr. McDonald is Chair of the Technology Council of
Maryland, which has 850 member companies, and is a Founder and past
Chair of the Maryland BioAlliance, a cooperative business association of
over 100 companies from throughout the state. He is a member of the CEO
Roundtable of the Greater Washington Board of Trade and has been an
active contributor to the regional Potomac Conference. Mr. McDonald has
been awarded the ‘Leadership in Technology Award’ by the Technology
Council of Maryland, named one of the Washington Region’s ‘Ten Most
Admired Bosses’ by Techway magazine, called one of Maryland’s corporate
‘Power Elite’ by Warfield’s Business Record, and listed among Who’s Who
In America. He joined BioReliance as President and CEO during 1992 and
has been a company Director since that time. From 1989 to 1992, he
served as President of Spectroscopy Imaging Systems Corporation, a joint
venture of Siemens Medical Systems and Varian Associates, in California.
Prior to that, he held senior management positions with Hewlett-Packard
Corporation, in their Analytical Products Group and in their joint
venture with Genentech. Mr. McDonald earned an MBA from Harvard Business
School (1983), a Master’s degree in Engineering from MIT (1976), and a
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Duke University (1974). He holds
device patents in both the US and Europe and has contributed articles to
several business and technical publications.
