How do I listen to Wall Street Webcasting on my computer?
You need software called Real Player to access content streamed by Wall Street Webcasting. There is a free basic player available which is perfectly adequate to access our content.
Download the free basic player here.
All other players must be paid for and contain extra features not necessary to access BBC audio and video.

Real have recently upgraded their player to RealOne. This is only available for use on the Windows platform. You may want to look for this free download as the site encourages the download of paid software and trial versions of players with extra features.
For other platforms (such as Mac) we recommend previous version RealPlayer8 Basic, also available free from the Real.com website.

Where can I get RealPlayer?
You can get the free RealPlayer at Real.com. We would currently recommend the FREE RealPlayer One version.
Follow the instructions through & you should successfully install RealPlayer One onto your computer. Once you have installed it, you should find that our RealAudio and Video work automatically. For further information on installing your software you may wish to refer to the help section of Real.com.

Do I have to pay for RealPlayer or is it FREE?
The RealPlayer plugin we recommend is available FREE of charge. Please read the RealPlayer pages carefully to ensure that you download the FREE version.

Why can't I get RealPlayer to work?
If you have just downloaded a player, you must also install it on your computer. Otherwise it will not work in tandem with your browser. You should run the player installation file by double-clicking on the player icon in the location where you save downloaded software.
In order to download a player you will have to provide information such as your email address, your country, your operating system, language and connection speed. There is also a checkbox to indicate whether or not you wish to receive further information from RealPlayer. If you have difficulty answering any of these questions you should consult the person who set-up your PC.

Why can't I hear the Wall Street Webcasting stream from my PC at work?
Your company may have a 'firewall' to securely protect its internal data. Sometimes your company's 'proxy' settings may be set in such a way that they prevent external streaming sources from occuring. If this is the case, please contact the IT department of your company.

Why does the stream sometimes stop or stutter?
The amount of information that can travel along the average telephone line is limited. This can cause a queue in the audio signal. Current streaming technology makes best efforts not to lose this information and holds or 'buffers' it until the line is clear to receive further information. This is why there is sometimes a stuttering or delaying effect when receiving a stream. If you are on a very slow connection you might not be able to hear/see the stream at all. There is a minimum requirement for Audio/Video depending on the setting when the stream is encoded.

Why does the slide show 1 of 1?
If the page shows 1 of 1 below the actual slide it means that the presenter did not submit slides for their presentation. In this case the buttons below the slide are without function. Only if the presenter provides us with slides can the buttons be used to control the current slide.

How can I receive audio and/or video behind a corporate firewall?
If you are attempting to listen/view a webcast from your office and are not able to receive the audio and/or video your company may have a security system in place that blocks such feed.
You may have to ask your MIS department to open port 554, responsible for supporting audio and visual streaming. If you still experience problems, you will need to connect to the broadcast site from outside the firewall.
