Mr. Putnam: We concentrate our attention on small to mid-cap stocks and companies. We leave the large ones to some of our competitors to follow, although I've followed Medtronic (MDT) for more than 30 years now. So even though we concentrate on small to mid-caps, we still have to know what the big guys are doing because they are the big gorillas. But our main focus is on companies under 1 billion in market cap.
TWST: From a business perspective, do you approach the space broadly or are you
focused on certain segments within medical devices?
Mr. Putnam: No, we have some concentration, but we do take a broad approach as
well. The concentrations that are prevalent are orthopedics, particularly spine,
minimally invasive spine surgery companies and companies that develop
biologicals for bone growth stimulation. We have a focus on diagnostic companies
as well.
