TWST: Please give us an overview of what you cover in the building materials
space. Mr. Lucas: The companies that fall within the building products space are
companies such as American Standard (ASD) and Stanley Works (SWK), and you could
even indirectly throw in Pentair (PNR) and Snap-on (SNA). My coverage tends to
be somewhat of a mixture of consumer and industrial; these companies would fall
under my consumer coverage. TWST: Looking at it from a business aspect, how have they done year to date? Mr. Lucas: It has been very interesting having this eclectic coverage of the 12
companies I follow. If you go down the list and look at the companies that have
the consumer exposure, you have American Standard and Stanley Works, and maybe
even Pentair or Toro (TTC) with their indirect consumer exposure. Those are the
stocks that have been laggards, whereas companies that are tied to the broader
general economy with more of a capital spending-related cycle are the stocks
that have performed relatively well this year.
