TWST: Let's start with an overview of what you're covering in the biotech space.
Dr. Jasuja: I cover what I call the micro-caps within the biotech sector. These are usually below $300 or $400 million in market cap. I am focused on therapeutics. The companies I cover are developing drugs in Phase I, Phase II, or Phase III, and some are even just entering Phase I. Obviously this is a higher risk subsector even within biotech but I believe that the risks can be mitigated with a well-researched thesis and diversified approach.

TWST: Why focus on that segment? Is that where the action is these days?
Dr. Jasuja: Given my background and my technical inclination, it seems apt for me. From my point of view, the excitement is within this sector. It's not a sector the larger funds are always amenable to investing in. It may be a sound strategy to have a few biotechs in any generalist's portfolio for exposure to some high-risk and high-reward type opportunities. But it's my technical inclination and my background that leads me to focus on this area. It also fits that MDB Capital Group is active in this biotech subsector, i.e., therapeutics, clinical, and regulatory risk-based biotechnologies.
