TWST: Mike, would you give us an overview of your coverage? Mr. French: I cover the homeland and national security space. These are
companies that provide products and services to the Department of
Homeland Security, to the Department of Defense, and to other customers
outside the United States who are our close allies. TWST: It has been an interesting time for the last several weeks. Why
has this space received increased attention? Mr. French: You are referring to the incident in London recently where a
terrorist act was disrupted, and the short answer is that it has brought
attention to the sector, although nothing has really changed. The threat
environment is still the same. People who study these issues for a
living were not surprised by this, although there was some surprise in
the larger community as a whole. So does it mean that there are more
contracts headed this way? No, I don't think so. But does that mean that
there is a wider acceptance and understanding that the money is going to
be flowing in this direction for our programs? I think the answer is
yes. For some reason, two weeks ago, people aside from the intelligence
agencies and the Defense Department didn't really think that there was
much of a threat. Perhaps newspaper reporters and editors, and just
people on the street, felt more secure than I suppose they should have.
