TWST: Let's start with an overview of what you are covering in the
automotive space. Mr. Leiker: Our research coverage at Baird focuses on the North American
original equipment suppliers. We provide research on 20 of the 21 public
companies traded in the US. We also keep a very keen eye on what is
going on throughout the rest of North America, Europe, and Asia. This
has become a global industry and investors need to be aware of what is
happening around the world. Moreover, some areas of the world (Asia and
emerging markets) are growing faster than North America and Western
Europe. TWST: As you look at your coverage, which as you say is most of North
America, what's going on from a business point of view at this point? Mr. Leiker: It is a struggle. While many of these businesses are global,
being located in North America presents challenges with the domestic
OEMs, especially the suppliers that have not diversified their revenue
stream.
