Mr. Fein: At this point, we're covering the five companies involved with pulmonary arterial hypertension ' Actelion, Encysive (ENCY), Myogen (MYOG), United Therapeutics (UTHR), and CoTherix (CTRX). In addition, we recently launched coverage of five additional companies: Insmed (INSM), Tercica (TRCA), Metabasis (MBRX), Sirna (RNAI), and Corcept (CORT).
TWST: Why those five companies in the same space? What is it that's
appealing there?
Mr. Fein: All of the companies in the space are interrelated. The
pulmonary hypertension market is a growing market. Furthermore, some of
the most interesting potential therapeutic options should be yielding
data in the next 12-18 months, which should make the market interesting
for at least the next couple of years. Importantly as well, the rate of
diagnosis among patients is definitely picking up, as is awareness of
the disease, both among patients and physicians.
Tickers included in this excerpt: BMY, CORT, CTRX, ENCY, INSM, MBRX, MYOG, NVS, PAH, RNAI, SHR, TRCA, UTHR, VRX
