Mr. Kaminis: I am an emerging growth analyst and cover mostly small cap and some mid-cap stocks. Basically, my coverage universe of 29 companies can range from semis to semiconductors. My style is biased toward growth at a reasonable price. However, i also retain the freedom to cover special situations and small cap value stocks. So basically, I regard myself as a small cap generalist.
TWST: How did your universe do last year?
Mr. Kaminis: Small cap stocks last year outperformed for the fourth year
in a row, if you are comparing the S&P 600 Index to the S&P 500 Index.
It's five years of outperformance if you are using Ibbotson Associates'
data, where Ibbotson uses the fifth capitalization quintile of New York
Stock Exchange traded stocks as its proxy for small caps. The S&P Small
Cap 600 Index was up 37.5% last year versus a 26.4% rise in the S&P 500
Index.
