Mr. Henderson: We are a national insurance brokerage organization focused primarily at serving the middle market commercial buyer.
TWST: How have those markets been faring over the past 12 to 24 months
with the economic downturn and some of the concerns regarding insurance
and pricing that we've seen? How has Brown & Brown been able to maneuver
in that environment?
Mr. Henderson: We believe the middle market insurance sector has been
somewhat more stable than the larger national accounts. This middle
market sector over the past three years has seen less dramatic price
increases and market availability has been much more constant with
middle and small accounts. The regional insurance companies have a
larger percentage of their premium in the middle market and their
pricing has been less volatile than the larger national carriers. Brown
& Brown generally has a broad base relationship with regional carriers
and has effectively used the relationship for the benefit of our
clients.
