TWST: What is NDS Group? Mr. Gersh: NDS is a leading provider of conditional access technology to
digital pay TV operators worldwide. We are also a leader in the
provision of end-to-end open software solutions, including things like
middleware, interactive applications and digital video recorders (DVR)
to the digital pay TV industry. We started out providing conditional
access, which is effectively what allows the operator to only allow the
subscriber to consume the content they have actually paid for. We are
protecting over $32 billion in revenues for our customers. From there,
we moved on to providing various other services ' the ones that I just
mentioned ' on top of conditional access. We have really become an end-
to-end provider of technology solutions to the digital pay TV industry.
And when I talk about the digital pay TV industry, I am talking about
satellite and cable, as well as new developments such as the IPTV
technology. In addition, we are also providing secure solutions for
mobile and portable devices. TWST: Who do you see as your direct clients? How large is that market?
What's the market penetration at this point? Mr. Gersh: Obviously, our clients are the providers of digital pay TV
services to the consumer. This includes the major satellite operators in
the world ' DIRECTV in the US, BSkyB in the UK, Sky Italia in Italy,
Viasat in Scandinavia, FOXTEL in Australia, SkyLife in Korea and many
more. We have over 40 TV platforms as customers. And in terms of the
market itself, it is obviously a huge market and a huge opportunity.
Today, there are roughly 117 million digital TV households. By 2010,
some of the projections that I have seen put that number at 277 million
digital TV households. So there is a huge amount of growth.
