Mr. Owens: We're going to be celebrating our 50th anniversary next year, and we are doing about 1.06 billion in sales for our most recently completed fiscal year. We operate in two primary business segments, the largest being our restaurant division. We operate just under 500 family style restaurants, which comprise about 80% of our sales. The other 20% is our food products business, where we produce a line of fresh breakfast sausage and convenience products sold in grocery supermarkets under the Bob Evans and Owens Country Sausage brand names.
TWST: Are your restaurants open for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
Mr. Owens: Yes, we compete in a three meals per day experience, but
without alcohol.
TWST: Could you tell us what the key ingredients were in the growth of
the company?
Mr. Owens: I think it's really just a commitment to the basics of
quality food and great service, a nice atmosphere, and, of course, on
the grocery side just premium quality product. It's all made with
premium cuts of meat and fresh spices with an old secret family recipe.
