TWST: Christine, would you begin by providing us with an overview of energy technology ' what it comprises and which companies should be included under this umbrella?
Ms. Farkas: Energy technology is a term used to define various energy-related technologies, such as advanced power generation technologies, energy storage, power electronics and even grid enhancement or network control. It has become a rather broad term which describes those technologies that can provide either base load, backup or renewable power (using wind, solar or biomass), and just about anything else associated with distributed power and clean energy. This can range from large sized power plants all the way down to batteries for handheld electronics that will provide longer talk time, longer computing time and longer operating time for digital cameras. Energy technology encompasses a large group of companies, and you can cast a very wide net as to what should be included in the segment.

TWST: Long term, could this change the way we think about and use energy?
Ms. Farkas: Long term it can. The technology has come a long way over the last few decades and prices are improving. Efficiencies are improving. And especially now, with recent events and disruptions in the Middle East, we are looking to reduce our dependence on foreign oil as well as improve the efficiency of our current grid.
