Mr. Wickham: We have now defined our goals for Roadway Corporation as a new holding company. Of course, we are best known for Roadway Express, which is a premier LTL two-day and beyond motor carrier in North America. And we also hold a next- day carrier, New Penn Motor Express, which is a northeast next- day regional carrier. We also have a truckload carrier, ATS, and a joint venture with United Airlines, American Airlines and some other folks called Integres. Each of these companies provides a different kind of transportation time or speed of transit offering from the core product at Roadway Express. Now, our primary strategy for growth is to continue to expand New Penn's next-day offering in other parts of the country to supplement the two-day and beyond offering that Roadway Express has had in place since 1930.
TWST: Do you have the tools in place to do that in terms of the
various modes that you need to meet those goals?
Mr. Wickham: Yes. We'll continue to look for acquisition
opportunities that put us in the next day business in other parts
of the country. Right now, through the New Penn acquisition, we
have the northeast covered, which is arguably the most difficult
next day market there is. But our plan is to continue to grow and
expand by acquiring next day carriers in other parts of the
country.
