Mr. Cooper: ImproveNet was founded in January 1996, originally in the San Francisco Bay area of California, and then went national in August 1996. Our primary business is to assist in the home improvement process by bringing together homeowners who are interested in finding a qualified local contractor with our network of highly screened, highly qualified contractors. The role that we play ranges from simply bringing together that homeowner and the contractor, all the way up to acting as the general contractor on certain kinds of projects in certain markets.
TWST: Has anybody else done this before you?
Mr. Cooper: There have been local contractor referral services, that
brought together contractors with homeowners who are looking for home
improvement professionals. To our knowledge, we were the first company
to provide this service on a national scale.
