Waste Connections, INC. (Nasdaq:WCNX);

“One management team that I have to offer a solid positive comment on in the solid waste space is Waste Connections,” says an environmental expert. “The qualification to that statement is, there still could be more done to enhance some of their businesses. Waste Connections has very gung ho growth. The main reason Waste Connections gets a kudo from me is that they have a pretty disciplined acquisition process. More importantly, Waste Connections’ acquisitions are historically affordable by a relatively high multiple on their stock, but they remain disciplined nonetheless. As a result, unlike some of their peers, Waste Connections has tended not to get into messy circumstances that they can’t extricate themselves from. We have seen many environmental services fall prey to such circumstances. The environmental services industry has had a long and sordid negative history, particularly in the solid waste side of the environmental equation. Waste Connections has stayed out of such situations and I think that says a lot about the company.”
