TWST: Tell us about Johnson Asset Management and the Small Cap Equity Fund that you run.
Mr. Perkins: Johnson Asset Management is a subsidiary of Johnson International, which is a financial services company owned by the SC Johnson family. SC Johnson is best known for its consumer products business, makers of Pledge, Windex, Off, Raid, and many other well-known brands. We manage about 800 million for the family, for the companies, and for other high net worth and institutional clients.

TWST: What is your investment philosophy?
Mr. Perkins: We are a value boutique. We specialize in the value markets only, managing large cap, small cap and international products.

TWST: How many stocks are currently in the portfolio? And does this number change at all?
Mr. Perkins: Our Small Cap Fund currently has about 85 stocks in it, which is a little on the high side from where we have been traditionally. We've taken that number higher over the course of the past 18 months as market volatility has risen to some pretty extraordinary levels, trying to make our returns more stable by reducing company-specific risk.
