Mr. Herzer: Forty-two years ago we started with one restaurant in Taluka Lake, California and today we have about 950 restaurants in Canada and the United States. We used to have some units in Japan, but we've closed them down due to difficulties as far as the Japanese economy is concerned.
TWST: Did the economy get that bad in Japan?
Mr. Herzer: Yes, it has been very difficult. The Japanese economy has
been deteriorating for quite some time. We had a franchisee in Japan,
which was a department store, and they had the in-store food service.
Their parent company filed chapter proceedings and that's what caused
the whole ripple.
TWST: How are things in Canada?
Mr. Herzer: Canada is doing great. It's in Vancouver and Vancouver is
just like the United States as far as pancakes are concerned.
