HARTFORD FINANCIAL SERVICES GROUP, INC. (NYSE:HIG)

Three analysts and top management from five sector firms examine the Life Insurance sector in this special 43-page issue from The Wall Street Transcript, available at (212/952-7433) or http://www.twst.com/info/info411.htm

“You’ve got to give Hartford Financial credit for hanging on in a very tough market,” commends a leading insurance specialist. “On the property casualty side, Hartford has been able to avoid some of the problems that others have faced. They have remained quite disciplined, growing where and when they should grow and managing their capital effectively, in other words buying back stocks. Hartford bought back the rest of their life insurance business, which used to be publicly traded. Hartford has done the right things.”

“One company that done a very good job recently is Hartford Financial,” adds another insurance professional. “They have very prudently grown through acquisition, especially their recent fairly sizeable acquisition of Fortis. Hartford’s management team doesn’t make mistakes. Better than anybody else except maybe AIG, Ramani Ayer consistently delivers and executes what he tells shareholders that Hartford is going to do. I think Ayer and his team at Hartford have done a wonderful job navigating some pretty tricky waters. Ayer has been delivering on his goals of double-digit earnings growth and mid-13%-15% ROEs. Ayer pulled Hartford through a tough property casualty environment and produced results on the life side when the economic and equity markets were difficult. He has a nice record in a tough period.”
