Mr. Crawford: Co-operators General Insurance Company is the third- largest general insurance company in Canada. It's owned by Co-operators Group Limited, which is a cooperative and basically is a holding company for both Co-operators General and a small life insurance company that we have as well. We've been in business in Canada for over 50 years and have a pretty high national profile and brand in the general insurance business.
TWST: Can you describe your perception of the market as it is now and
the position that you hold?
Mr. Crawford: We're the third-largest general insurer in Canada. Our
market is all domestic. We write business in every province and
territory in Canada, having recently acquired a company in the province
of Quebec. So we're starting to make some penetration there. The largest
players in our industry are internationally-owned companies. We're the
largest Canadian player, as well as being the third-largest overall. And
the major competition for us is coming from organizations like ING,
Allstate, Royal & Sun Alliance and State Farm.
