Mr. Dougan: Equity Oil Company was founded in 1923 in Salt Lake City. We have operated primarily in the Rocky Mountains since that time, and have always been an independent public company. Our core areas of operations are in the Rocky Mountain states, the Sacramento Basin of Northern California and Alberta, Canada. In the last six years we have been working hard to sharpen the focus in our core areas of interest. The best example of that effort is our work in the Bighorn Basin in Wyoming and Montana.
TWST: What's your mix of production at this point?
Mr. Dougan: We're approximately 72% oil and 28% gas.
TWST: In the markets that you're dealing in, who are you competing with
for drilling?
Mr. Dougan: In the Rockies, we compete in terms of goods and services,
including drilling rigs, with everyone from very large independents down
to small independents. The majors aren't as much of a factor in our
areas of interest. I would say it's probably more of an independent game
' but some of the large independents are very large.
