SYBASE, INC. (NYSE:SY);

Five analysts and top management from eighteen sector firms examine the Document & Database Management Software sector in this special 93-page issue from The Wall Street Transcript, available at (212/952-7433) or http://www.twst.com/info/info407.htm

“I think that John Chen, CEO at Sybase, understands the database business very well,” compliments a top industry pro. “When he acquired Neon, a lot of people, thought, ‘Wait a minute, this doesn’t make any sense, what’s he doing?’ Chen understands that he has a mature business in Sybase and he understands that he has to find other ways to make his business grow at a faster rate. While B2BI or EAI, choose your acronym, doesn’t seem like a direct fit, it actually does allow him to sell more databases. It does allow Chen to go deeper into the portal space, where he intends to make Sybase a large player. I think it was actually a fairly cunning move on his part. I like John Chen.
