ADVANCED MICRO DEVICES, INC. (NYSE:AMD)

Five analysts and top management from eight sector firms examine the Semiconductor sector in this special 57-page issue from The Wall Street Transcript, available at (212/952-7433) or http://www.twst.com/info/info377.htm

“I give Jerry credit,” says one industry expert. “He’s like the guy who doesn’t leave the playground. He is always there. Jerry doesn’t give up the fight. And Advanced Micro Devices has actually come back. They have a very good product in the marketplace and it’s a better product than Intel’s offerings in terms of performance, size and power dissipation. They’re in a really good position, and I commend Jerry for the staying power.” Adds another expert, “There is going to be an interesting fight between Intel and AMD. You are going to see how quickly Intel can turn up, and if Jerry can keep pace. They are both in the same position — on the fence. They both have fights. Jerry has won some fights and lost some. Now he is going head to head with Intel. It could be interesting in the second half of the year.”

“Jerry Sander is likely to step down from an operational role but remain on the Board,” notes one analyst. “It is going about as well as can be expected at this point. The concept of management succession is embraced by AMD. It has been a multi-year project and it is marching along. I think the corporation realizes the need for new blood and that the operation must live on. We are all sort of holding our breath to make sure it happens, but I think at this point, AMD is doing a lot more right than wrong."
