TWST: Could we start out by you giving us a brief overview of Catapult
Communications? Bring us up to date since we had an interview about 10
months ago. Dr. Karp: Catapult Communications has been in business profitably since
1985 and it services the still rapidly growing, rapidly changing telecom
industry by making telecom test systems. We focus mostly on telecom
equipment manufacturers as our customer base, although our largest
customer in the fiscal year ended September 30, 2000 was an operator,
NTT DoCoMo. We do try to cover the waterfront in telecom test software
in two main areas ' third generation digital cellular, or 3G, and Voice-
over-IP, which is the area where the data-com network is going to carry
the voice traffic rather than the other way around. TWST: Who are some of your customers? Dr. Karp: Our customer base includes most of the large players in
telecom; just about anyone you could name. Some customers have been
around for a long time like Motorola, Lucent, and Ericsson. They've been
customers for more than 10 years. Some are newer customers like Cisco
and Nokia. We sell to basically every major manufacturer in the telecom
industry. So I'd add Hitachi, Fujitsu, ADC Japan, Alcatel, Siemens,
Nortel, and so on.
