TWST: What targets does 10 Group need to hit in order for you to be happy over the next 1 to 2 years?

Mr. Moore: A share price of GBP 1 - it's 5p at the moment, and perhaps GBP 100 million, in terms of turnover, I don't really call that a target, because it's profit I'm after more than turnover. That's going to be a 1- to 2-year cycle in this type of business anyway because of the investment we need to put in. Other targets I'd like are for 10 Group to have its own internet service provider, which we are quite some way down the line on; and also to have a number of substantial internet brands that we market. Along with that I'd like us to have a stable of probably 30 titles, some of them national; and perhaps in there somewhere along the line a traditional newspaper of some description.

TWST: Let's talk about the ISP aspect; where do you see the revenue base coming in the ISP of the future?

Mr. Moore: That's the million-dollar question. AOL in the UK have actually differentiated themselves from all of the UK-based ISPs. Most ISPs offer free internet service, but you have to pay for your phone connection, and they get a share of the telecom's revenue, although that is being constantly eroded. AOL still charge for their internet service provision but give you free phone calls. The answer to that question is that I think AOL is probably the way to go. Charge for service and then you get a better-quality service. The only way you'll make money in ISP is telecoms or sponsorship or some advertising, unless you charge for the service. But that's a problem in the UK.

TWST: What areas are you focussing on personally on a day-to-day basis?

Mr. Moore: Innovation, ideas, launches of new products, new brands, negotiating, looking at acquisitions and investments, negotiating them and closing them.

TWST: Who helps you in that? Who is the current management team; what are its strengths; what areas will you be developing?

Mr. Moore: My main assistance in the area of the internet and publishing is Simon Cooper; he's one of our main board directors. His background is computing in Australia. He knows a lot of technical skills on the internet and the computing side and the technical side. In terms of me, I pretty much do it all on my own, apart from my Chief Executive, Paul Harvey. He does a lot of the ground work and research on the acquisition side. Our main targets are traditional businesses that have not grasped the internet. I'll give you an example: the retailers of this country are having a pretty tough time. Some of them have not grasped the internet. Some of them have and it still hasn't helped them for various reasons. We are constantly researching these companies, because we think there's opportunity there for new brands on the internet and new ways of doing business. The internet is the greatest revolution since TV.
