TWST: Why don't we start with a quick overview of Material Sciences Corporation and a history of the company?
Mr. Nadig: Material Sciences is a technology-based manufacturer of continuously processed coated and specialty-engineered materials and services. The company is a leader in each of its three principal segments. The first is Coated Products and Services. This includes our coil-coating operations, our hot-dip galvanizing operation, and our electrogalvanized steel operation. The second area is Engineered Materials, and the third is Specialty Films. MSC was founded in 1971. We're headquartered near Chicago, and we operate 11 manufacturing facilities in the United States and Europe. Since the company went public in 1984, our sales have grown at approximately 15 percent per year, both through acquisitions as well as internal expansion. Last year, we had sales of just under 475 million and approximately 1,200 employees.

TWST: Who are your primary customers?
Mr. Nadig: We generally serve industrial markets. About 50 percent of our sales go to building and construction which is pre-engineered metal buildings and a number of other products. Automotive OEMs original equipment manufacturers represent about 25 percent of our sales. Another 15 percent goes to the automotive aftermarket, appliance, metal furniture and fixtures and others. About 10 percent goes to end-users and consists of energy conservation products. In terms of individual customers, the automotive manufacturers General Motors, Ford and Chrysler are our largest. The building and construction industry with companies such as Menards and Vic West are smaller than the automotive companies, but we still sell a significant amount of product to them.
