Mr. Palmin: Novelos was formed back in 1996 to commercialize a novel oxidized glutathione-based platform technology. We went public in 2005, and we've raised, I'm pleased to say, over 70 million to date through institutional financings and partnerships. So we've taken a technology from a proof of concept through pivotal Phase III trial, and this trial is expected to read out early next year.
TWST: Tell us about your technology. What are oxidized glutathione-based compounds and what are their applications?
Mr. Palmin: The primary application is cancer. We have a unique and revolutionary approach with our lead compound, NOV-002. One, it potentiates chemotherapy, making it work better with better survival and better anti-tumor effects than chemotherapy alone while, two, helping the patients recover from the toxicities of chemotherapy. And three, NOV-002 itself is safe. So we are not adding any toxicity. We have potentiation, recovery and safety. Scientifically speaking, we regulate redox-sensitive cell signaling pathways that are involved in cancer proliferation, cell-mediated immunity and hematopoiesis. And all of our publications, including peer-reviewed, are available on our Web site, www.novelos.com, at the NOV-002 section.
