Mr. Cox: Our company is a contract research organization, one of many in the country. We are probably the smallest publicly traded CRO. It was started 32 years ago by Pete Kissinger, who was a Professor here at Purdue University in West Lafayette. Initially, we were started as an equipment company to provide sensitive measuring instruments to laboratories in the life sciences. As that evolved, we started providing the services that were associated with that, and today, 80% of our revenues are in the service area, dealing with the development of drugs in getting pharmaceuticals to the point of being approvable by the FDA.
TWST: You say you are the smallest of the public companies doing this. What
marks you off from the other companies?
Mr. Cox: We compete with them on the same quality and service issues that most
service companies do. We set ourselves apart in that the quality of what our
professionals do is very highly regarded, and 80% of our business is repeat
business. We have a very strong chemistry background - that's what our Founders
were in - so the quality of our chemistry is maybe the best in the industry.
