TWST: We'd like to begin with a brief historical sketch of Eagle Hospitality and a picture of the things you're doing at the present time.Mr. Blackham: Eagle Hospitality Properties Trust celebrated its second anniversary on October 1, 2006. We are a hotel real estate investment trust that invests in upper upscale full-service and all-suite hotels. The company currently owns 13 hotels comprising approximately 3,500 rooms, and we continue to invest new capital in full-service and all-suite hotels in high barrier to entry top 25 and select resort markets across the United States.
TWST: What were the circumstances surrounding the founding of the company?
Mr. Blackham: The company was formed to increase a portfolio of high-quality
full-service upper upscale hotels. The best way to characterize it is to operate
under a public platform with efficient access to capital in order to create a
very high quality portfolio and to become one of the premier hotel real estate
investment trusts in the sector.
