TWST: What is TraceGuard Technologies? Dr. Ganani: TraceGuard Technologies Inc. is a company based in Israel;
however, it's listed in the United States. We develop equipment to
detect explosives and other hazardous materials, primarily in the
transportation security area, but not limited to that area. TraceGuard
Technologies Inc. was incorporated through a reverse merger and we
listed in the new form eight months ago. However, our technology
originates in TraceTrack Ltd, which was a startup in Israel that
developed three prototypes that demonstrated capabilities to extract as
little as 200 micrograms of traces ' which is about how much a normal
person carries on a fingerprint ' of explosive. They convey those little
traces into an analyzer that is able to detect the existence of
explosives, while in the existing process, which is manual, very slow
and extremely inefficient, you could not have detected those traces. We
are headquartered in New York with an R&D center in Israel. As a result
of raising about $4 million, we managed to pull a team together. We have
22 people in the company and most of them are on the engineering side.
We are currently busy building two systems; one is called CompactSafe,
which is supposed to extract traces out of laptops, electronic devices,
and medical devices. Those are devices where there is no way that you
can clear those suspected objects unless you physically open them up or
take them to a lab, both of which are obviously unrealistic for use in
mass travel at airports. The other system we are building is called
CarrySafe, which is meant to handle 100 bags per hour, 100 bags the size
of a carry-on piece of luggage. As I said, our extraction gets traces
down to a single print. Today, that process takes about four to five
minutes and usually does not detect more than 20% to 30%. We can do all
of that in less than a minute with about a 90% detection rate.
