TWST: What is Wave Dispersion Technologies? Mr. Dennis Smith: Wave Dispersion is a company that has a patented
product called WhisprWave, which creates marine security barriers and
also floating articulated breakwaters. The technology was developed in
1998 and was first installed at that time as a breakwater. Then in 2000,
the U.S. Navy asked us to design a security barrier for protection of
their ships and ports. Since the USS Cole was attacked in 2001 and the
9/11 attack, the company has grown substantially. Our product, called
the Small Craft Intrusion Barrier or SCIB, is now the standard product
in the world. It has been installed in the United States and also
overseas. TWST: What's the customer base? Is it primarily governments or are there
private customers as well? Mr. Dennis Smith: The customers for the security barriers are primarily
government agencies, military organizations, or large private
enterprises, such as oil companies protecting LNG terminals, refineries
and so forth. In the area of the government agencies, we protect ports,
naval bases, Army bases, Coast Guard bases, dams, and also
infrastructure that is critical to both the nation and the world. In the
private sector, our customers are mostly marinas, where we are putting
in the breakwaters to protect the harbor from wave two wake to create a
damage safe harbor. Also, we are in Middle East protecting refineries
and harbors over there, including the largest harbor that's being
constructed in the world in Dubai, UAE.
