Mr. Nelon: Ortiva Wireless is a relatively young company; we've been around for approximately 18 months. Today we're focused on a methodology for managing the inherent variability in data transport mechanisms, primarily wireless networks, as it applies to streaming solutions. In particular, we provide a much better streaming experience for consumers over mobile networks. This provides a better method for delivering rich content and advertising in a way that can be utilized today. One of the keys to our delivery solution is that it operates over existing networks and existing handsets. Although the technology is equally applicable to WiMAX and WiFi, we are initially focused on 2.5G and 3G cellular networks, because the problem is more easily identified and the impact of our solution is easily measured there today.
TWST: Can you comment on the current state of the end-market, the emerging
market, and future prospects for adoption of multimedia streaming and Internet
browsing?
Mr. Nelon: We believe the market continues to ripen. We see a lot of interesting
indicators from a number of carriers regarding the number of rich media capable
phones they are selling, the consumer adoption of data plans, and the interest
we see in the both mainstream and industry-focused media. It appears we are
reaching a tipping point where more and more consumers are becoming aware of
streaming services. As the quality of streaming services improves, the ability
to monetize those solutions will also improve. We believe this is the catalyst
for continued market growth. We are providing improvements on both the quality
side and the monetization side. Content owners and distributors are now able to
monetize their content in a manner that makes it worthwhile for both parties to
look at the mobile distribution channel as viable.
