TWST: Would you give us a brief historical sketch of the company and a
picture of the main things that you are doing at the present time? Mr. Centanni: Our company was founded in Quincy, Illinois, in 1859 by
Robert Gardner when he re-engineered the fly-ball governor that was used
to control steam engines. The fly-ball governor is a pressure release
valve that keeps steam engines from blowing up. The company expanded its
product line into pumps and compressors and continued to grow. In 1979,
it was purchased by Cooper Industries and split into several divisions.
In 1994, Cooper spun the company off as a separate corporation again,
and, since then we've been independent and are publicly traded on the
New York Stock Exchange. TWST: Would you describe the principal products that you manufacture? Mr. Centanni: Most of our product lines consist of compressor and vacuum
products that are used in multiple applications ' anywhere from medical
to food and beverage, to locomotive compressors and truck blowers. We
also make pumps that are used for oil and natural gas drilling,
production, and well servicing applications.
