TWST: We'd like to begin with a brief historical sketch of Matritech and
a picture of the things you're doing at the present time.
Mr. Chubb: We were founded in the late 1980s because we felt that the
ability to identify and treat cancer patients had not kept pace with
progress in other markets. I identified some technology from the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology ' nuclear matrix proteins. Nuclear
matrix protein ' known as NMP ' technology became the basis for our
intellectual property and core technology that supports our NMP22
BladderChek Test for diagnosing and monitoring bladder cancer, the
product that the FDA has approved. Since that time, we've become a
publicly traded medical products company with over 80 employees. Last
year, we exceeded $10 million in sales and we have the only FDA approved
point-of-care cancer test. The BladderChek NMP22 Test is the most
accurate fluid-based cancer test ever approved by the FDA.
TWST: How widely is it used at this time?
Mr. Chubb: Over 1 million BladderChek Tests have been sold. Urologists
in the United States and throughout the world are using thousands of
BladderChek Tests each day.
