TWST: We'd like to begin with a brief historical sketch of Buckeye Technologies and a picture of the things you're doing at the present time.
Mr. Crowe: We were established as a management buyout in 1993 and were previously a part of Procter & Gamble. Procter & Gamble made a decision to exit the industrial businesses and sold part of our business to Weyerhaeuser. The Buckeye management team, along with a venture capital group, purchased the specialty operations, which included two facilities ' a cotton linter pulp facility here in Memphis, and a wood facility in Perry, Florida. We had about 1,100 employees at that time. Since then, we have grown to eight manufacturing facilities located around the world, where we employ approximately 1,650 people.

TWST: It's a little tricky to compare you to other companies because you're progressing somewhat differently.
Mr. Crowe: Yes, we are. It's difficult to find a company that compares to us, because we specialize in small niche markets, and oftentimes, our competitors in each of those markets are not the same. We are unique in that we focus on technically demanding markets; we have considerable expertise in cellulose technology and manufacturing skills, so we can make products that are tailored to meet individual customer needs.
